Young people's meet- There is much gratification in the progress which Sunday schools are making mak-ing in various parts of the United States. At the sixty-seventh anniversary of the American Sunday School union held at Newark, N. J., a few days since, the following account of the work accomplished accom-plished for the year ending March 1, 1IH, was read: New Sunday schools organized, 1,R'J2, with 770 teachers and 6:,210 scholars; 2,008 other soliools were aided with 13,-201 13,-201 teachers and 125,924 scholars; 5,009 schools previously reported were aided containing 212, UW) teachers and scholars, schol-ars, making a total of 452,930 teachers and scholars. The missionaries distributed dis-tributed 7,4-15 bibles and 11,214 testaments, testa-ments, made 49,040 yisits to families and delivered 14,000 addresses, between be-tween 4,000 and 5,000 persous professed conversion at Evangelistic services and at least 130 churches have been developed devel-oped frnra Sunday schools established by missionaries. The Methodists of Denver intend building a $20,000 church at Colfax avenue av-enue and Ninth street. It will be of Denver pressed brick, have a tower 123 feet high and the seating capacity will be about 1000. The pastoral relation of Rev. S. A. Cornelius with the Presbyterian church of Santa Cruz has been dissolved on account ac-count of sickness in his family, making mak-ing his removal from the sea coast necessary. nec-essary. Mr. Hopkins has given a central lot at Pala Alto station, C'al., for a Baptist church, and it is expected that an tdi-lice tdi-lice will soon be erected. Twenty-seven Chinese have been baptized bap-tized by immersion in connection with the various Baptist Chinese missions of California dnring the past year. The Unitarian society at San Jose seems likely to build a church edifice at last. The society was formed some twenty years ego under the labors of Kev. Charles G. Ames, and has kept up Sunday services under a succession of ministers most of the time since it I started. Salt Lake Methodists will be glad to know that Bishop Fowler has received from Dr. N. J. Bird a deed of five lots in block 42 of the town of Palo Alto, to be used as a building site for the Meth- Uuion block.
