Show AMUSEMENTS. On Thursday, Friday and Saturday of this week Frederick Wardo and Mrs. D. P. Bowers will hold tho board at the Salt Lake theater. Sale of soats will begin on Wednesday. Speaking of this company tho Boston Herald says: Frederick Warde and Mrs. D. P. Bowers, Bow-ers, two of tho best known representatives representa-tives of tragic acting on tho Ameri-cau Ameri-cau stago, commenced a two weeks' engagement en-gagement at the academy of music last evening. 'The play was Henry VIII, and the hearty appiause with which it was greeted by the large audience showed that the efforts of both principals princi-pals and tho entire cast were entirely satisfactory. Mr. W'.trde's rendition of Cardinal Woolsey was stirring and strikingly picturesque, and his clear, resonant voice was distinctly heard in every part of the academy. "Mrs. Bowers Bow-ers was equally effective as Queen Katharine, Kath-arine, her performance being marked by that sweetness ami grace which has kept her among the foremost of American Amer-ican actresses. |
