Show 'CAUGHT IN CHAMBERS. The District Court Judges Continue the Work on Matters of the Supreme Su-preme Bench. THE rEBRUAEY TEEM OF COUBT, Active Preparations for an Eventful SessionThree Ses-sionThree Murder Cases Docketed. Whatever grievances there were among the courts of record today was done in chambers. Judge Zane and Judge Anderson were both ready for business but, the harvest was light and after a few formal matters had been passed on they again settled down to work upon decisions that will be handed down at the reconvening of the supreme) court. Conspicuous among issues now before the judiciul vision is that of tho school tax cases and the contest over the office of the clerk of the county court, lioth of these will be disposed of early in the April Kitting. In the meantime' Judge Blackburn is getting ready for a busy scssiuu down at Provo where a long list of offenders come up under the Kdmunds law. Judge Miner is at Ogden looking after the welfare of the litigant in that locality and arranging his calendar for a busy terra. On Monday next work will begin oa, the February term of the third district, ut which time Judge Zane will take care of the criminal department, while judge Anderson will look after the matter in chancery of which there is a large amount. At the same time tho grand jury will begin its labors as will also the petit, all members mem-bers of which ere notihed to appear at that time. The term promises to be ono of the most eveutful that has been held in this district as it calls for a lengthy criminal calendar in which the alleged cohab and adulterer appear in large number. In addition to this class of cases are three murder trials, the Moss case in which the defendant de-fendant is charged up with a Park City funeral, being set for the early part of the session. There is also the Diamond trial in which the defendant laid out his man with a chisel, not to mention . the O'Brien murder that is yet fresh la the mind of the reader. For the term the legal fraternity are all making elaborate elab-orate prparations, while United States District Attorney Varian and his assistant assist-ant Mr. E. B. Critcblow will have littla time for leisure. |
