Old Mr. Stiuson of the cast fork of Wood river, is in Salt Lako City undergoing under-going treatment for a cancer iu the mouth, from which he has suffered for many years, says the Wood River Times. Some time ago the cancer having hav-ing filled his mouth to such an extent that he could scarcely breathe, he en deavored to havo Dr. Brown operate on him. But that gentleman, realizing the hopelessness of the ease, refused. Mr. Stiuson then asked some of the miners on the fork to cut it out with a razor which he had iu his hand. They also refused. The poor man thereupon stood in front of a looking glass and, holding his mouth open with his left hand, slashed the cancer with his right until he cut out a pieee as large as a walnut. 'This relieved him for a week or two, but the. growth soon became larger than before. He thereupon left for Salt Lake City as a last resort aud is not expected to live much longer. . |
