Show THE LAST SAD RITES. The Remains of Oeu, Belknap Interred In Arlington Cemetery. Washington, Oct. 16. The remains of the lata ox-secretary of war, William W. Belknap, were today Interred in the Arlington National cemetery, in ground tendered by the war department. The services were conducted In i St. Jons Episcopal church. The remains were taken to the church under . an escort of the Veteran military organizations or-ganizations "The ' .' honorary , pall bearers were Secretary Noblo, ex-Post-Master General J. A. Creswell, Gen. L. A. Grant, assistant secretary of war; Gen: Cyrus Bussey, assistant . secretary sec-retary of ' the interior;. Ex-Representative John, ; A. Kassan, Gen. . Hatchellon '.' Gen. Bennett, General Vinoent, Senator Mandm-son, Hallet Kilbourne, General II. VI Boyn-ton, Boyn-ton, General W. C. Veaey, commander-in-chief of the G. A. R.'f Colonel M. Emmett Urel, commander of the department de-partment of the Potomac,' G. A. R.: James Worthington and Joseph K. Mc-Cnmmon. Mc-Cnmmon. v The active pall bearers were a detachment de-tachment of six non-cpmralssloned officers offi-cers from the Washington barracks. The church was filled by friends of the dead general. The services were conducted by Rev. Dr, Douglass iu an impressive manner, and there-mains there-mains were then conveyed to the ceme tery and interred. |
