Show THE SCHOOL BOARD. The Boater of Principal and Teachers U Pronounced. The school board met last evening in its new chambers in the Roberts block with Colonel Nelson presiding. The minutes of the previous meeting were read nd approved after which the regular reg-ular order of business was proceeded with. The committee on buildings were directed di-rected to contract for . suitable school accomodations on the north side. The chairman of the committee on supplies was instructed to keep and dispense all janitor's supplies and to preserve a record thereof. The committee com-mittee were authorized to purchase all supplies whie-h were to be stored with the clerk.- ' The matter of the employment of teachers then came up for considpra-tion considpra-tion the committee recommending the employment of the subjoined list in case they were needed, and when they were needed, for at the outset there will not be places for the corps that will be required at a later period in the term. The original list contained thirty-eight teachers and the committee is of the opinion that most of them can be assigned as-signed at once: For principals M. D. Bowen, O. A. Roberts, W. A. Corey, Loyd Torter, W. . Jamison, W. W. Barton, Ada Van Wormcr, E. A. Knuckey, and Ida May Erye. For other positions P. I. Bothiin, Lizzie (iibbs, Alta Westbrook, D. S. McCorkle, Mattie A. Wilt, Hattie Lewis, Lew-is, Jennie Carney, Lillie fiwin, Hattie Randolph, N. G. Webb, R.H.Bradford, Florence Cooke, EfTic Riddle, Vickie Clayton, Mrs. Helen Krigbaum, Mrs. V. M. Kelson, Emma I'eschel, Althca Wheeler, Bessie Kimball, Rena Larsen, Lizzie Hyslop, Louisa Siddoway, Alice Kleiue, Oliver Derbridge. The joint committees on school buildings, build-ings, to whom was referred the question ques-tion of school accommodations and the petition of residents of the Fifth ward, submitted their report which cites a deficiency de-ficiency of accommodations in nearly all the school rooms. The committee ask authority to remedy. this by securing secur-ing adequate accommodations and to make all necessary contracts to that end. The report also calls attention to the introduction of a high school course in the Fourteenth ward school, and recommended re-commended that the committee on buildings be authorized to secure accommodations ac-commodations for a similar course of instruction in tho eastern portion of the city. The committee, also report favorably favor-ably on tho new schoolhouse. the boundaries boun-daries of which have already been named in these columns, and recommend recom-mend that the committee on buildings be allowed toseeuro accommodations for it at once! As to the Sixth want tho committee reported they had been tendered the first story of the Sixth-ward Sixth-ward meeting house for school purpose at $:!")() for the year, or $35 per month. The joint committee recommend thnt a contract be entered into and the room secured at once.- The committee also reported that they had been tendered the use of the basement of the Seventh ward meeting house, which would require re-quire somo repairs and heating apparatuses. appar-atuses. Superintendent Milis'paugh was instructed in-structed to assign the teachers to their respective positions in the schools, with the privilege of consulting the directors direct-ors when it was deemed necessary. The clerk wasdirected to have 'a tele-phono tele-phono placed in tho rooms and to take out a notorial commission at the expense ex-pense of the board. Tho old report of the committee on schools, the tenor of which is well known, was adopted. ' Not less than 500 nor more than 2000 of the rules and course of study, at the option of the auditing committee, were ordered printed.
