Show IS IT A FRAUD? The following advertisomcut has appeared ap-peared in a large number of eastern newspapers: WHO ARE THE LUCKY HUNDRED f A NOVEL AND EXPENSIVE METHOD OF ADVEIl-TIS1NU ADVEIl-TIS1NU MEAL ESTATE. Commencing Monday, June 30. we will give away ICO choice lots to any oue sending us their full name and address with S cents for return postage. These lots are 25x125 feet and will be worth 55U each In lees than three years. I The present population of Salt Lake City is eu,uuo. In live years it will be tho largest city between Chicago and San Francisco. We mean business, and If you want a warranty deed to a splendid lot send your name to tho Salt Lake View addition company, Salt Lake City, U tah The Times a few days ago published an article exposing tho abovo scheme. Tho statement was made that the land was about twelve miles from the Templo. Tho chief promoter of the enterprise called at t his office and slated that he had a perfect title to the land, which was not more than twelve miles from tho Templo. Wo had heard of a similar scheme which had been worked forty miles south of Denver, and mentioned men-tioned the fact to the gentleman, who thereupon acknowledged that ho had engineered it, but, that the land was only twenty-one miles south of Denver, aud that the, enterprise proved a financial finan-cial failure. This was probably owing to tho exposure made by tho Denver Republican, against which the laud schemer brought a libel suit. We have in our possession a letter written by the manager of theSaltLake View addition to a Chicago applicant. Tho letter goes into details, and states among other thiugs that theso lots are only four miles from tho city limits, and the company iuvifes thorough investigation in-vestigation before purchasing. Wo would suggest that the Salt Lako real estate exchange investigate this matter, as the scheme looks a little "fishy." If it is a fraud, it should certainly cer-tainly be exposed aud denounced, as any fraudulent jobs in regard to real estate will work au injury to the city. The name "Salt Luke View addition" ad-dition" is very similar to "Lake View" which is a valuable addition within tho city limits. This similarity of names is misleading, to say the least, and it is a fair presumption that the name "Salt Lake View addition" was chosen for the purpose of deception. The real estate es-tate exchange owes it to itself and to the city to niako an investigation, as tho people of Salt Lake caunot afford to have anything but square deals iu real estate operations. Of course, if tho Salt Lake View addition company sees lit to give away a certain number of lots, it lias a perfect right to do so, but the public is entitled to know its methods of operating, and if there is any trick to catch a lot of people for a few dollars each it should be shown up. |
