Some of the lesser Entertainments and the Movemeuta of Society People in Their Peregrinations, Mr. Wicks and Mr. Holden gave a very enjoyable dinner at their residence on First West street, to Mifs Witter anil Miss Itooklcdge. Mia. K. Keyes acted as chaperone. 'Mrs. T. R. Jones entertained a card club of sixteen Monday evening. The deep thinkers played whist, while the rest wiled away the time with high five. A dainty supper was served during the evening. The report is that several young ine report is that several young peoplo lost their way ou the east bench Tuesday evening on their way to a very hospitable mansion. They finally reached their destination where tiddlo-dy-winks, delicious chocolate and cake quite repaid them for their wanderings. It is supposed that tho host perched his abode so high to get out of the way of land contests. a. Wednesday evening Miss MoCornick was at home to her friends. Miss Jack, who has been visiting Mrs. Hoyt Sherman, left for her homo in Iowa Thursday. Many regrets follow fol-low her in ber ' departure from Salt Lake. A most delightful evening was spent spent Thursday by both young and old at Mrs. Hoggs' charmiug house on Twelfth Last street. Progressive euchre was the game that engrossed the attention of all. The (irst prize was won by Mrs. Geo. M. Dowuey a lovely painting by the fair hestess. Mr. Dr. Niles drew the second prize, an exquisite etching on satin. The gentleman's prize, a silver-headed cane was won by Mr. W. L. McCornick. Salads and ices proved a most attractive attract-ive ending to the evening. Mr. C. II. Haviland, jr., left for Xew York Friday morning on a two months visit. A number of his friends assembled assem-bled earlv in the morning at the University Uni-versity club and escorted him to the depot, after an evening spent in wishing wish-ing him good luck and a merry Christmas Christ-mas in the east. Humor has it that when he returns to Salt Lake Mrs. Haviland Hav-iland may accompany him. |
