Show Tnrt fact that the southern members of the farmers alllauce aro almost solid against the propos d third party movement, while the w estern members are as solidly In favor of H is Hlgnlilcant. The former are about all democrats, demo-crats, while the latter aro largely made up of those who have formerly acted with the repub llcnns. This state of t limps affords additional proof of what was demonstrated in the recent elections that the republican party has far more to fear from the farmers' movement than the democracy has Boston Herald. Not that, but it affords additional proof that the farmers' move mont in the southis a sham ami in tlio north a delusion. In the south some such movement may be essential because no couutry in which but one party exists, the other being suppressed, can be well governed; yet we are told the alliance down there is solid against a third party organization. It insist ou remaining re-maining democrat. What do the farmers farm-ers of the north think of that? Do they believe in deserting the republican party to which they belong, aud set up in politics for themselves, just to accommodate ac-commodate their ex-rebel friends, and holp the national democracy to an eas victory in 181)2? On second thought we are convinced they will refuse playing play-ing catspaw for the democratic bear. |
