Show JHZ NATIONAL RCCATTA. Will tha tireatault l ake Regatta Foe 1K01 ltd More? Shall or will Groat Salt Lake, invite the National Rowing association to this city the coming year? Last Ai.gust Duluth. Wis., secured the great regatta re-gatta and the advertisement the tity received from it was simply great. Over 30,000 people visited Duluth' to witness the sport, anil now that city is working hard to got the regatta for llH'Jl. The citizens of that city raised the money necessary to entertain the visiting oarsmen, over 1011 boats contenting con-tenting tho race. In the eastern cities it :s customary for the citizens to innate the cash for the expenses of tho local clubs, but in Salt Lake members of each club pay their own way by assessing themselves. Now it is this the boys cannot stand the expenses of their own club and also of the visiting oarsmen. If the citiens will care for the visitors, the three Utah clubs will accord the guests the- wannest wann-est reception they have yet received. That tho local clubs can do this is assured as-sured from the fact last year the Garliold Boat club sent their crews est to three na'ional regattas and came home with the championship of tho world. Shall the regatta be here The people must decide. Denver makes it a business to have all the grand lodges, national and international societies meet there, am) it is this push and energy en-ergy that has brought Denver to the front. For $1000 to $15 HI Salt Luke can have the national regatta. Shall it come here? |
