Show On May 6, 1821, Dr. Autoniachi, assisted as-sisted by Thomas Carswell. proceeded to make an autospy on the body of Napoleon I. at Longwood. The post mortem was interrupted by the darkness dark-ness of the evening. When going to continue the autospy next morning the physicians found the great massive heart had almost been devoured by rats. A fresh lamb's heart was taken and placed in the dead emperor's thorax. Tims tho body of Napoleon, which reposes re-poses under the dome of the Invalides since 1840, conta'ms the heart of an innocent in-nocent animal instead of that of the hero of Austerlitz. |
