Information was received by si delegate, to tin; international inter-national American conference that tho union of the Central American republics repub-lics is completed with the exception of Nicaragua, which is expected to ratify the articles of union at the next meeting meet-ing of its congress. This union is only provisional, having in view within tho next ten years a seel-eral seel-eral constitution, similar to that of the United States, should such bo tho popular popu-lar will. In the meantime tho confederation confed-eration will act as practically one government gov-ernment in public affairs, through a chief executive, a cabinet and a diet composed of three representatives from each of the live republics. The lalter like our ow n states will re tain independent statutes as to the-snpervision the-snpervision anil regulation of the'u owu domestic affairs. The president is to hold office, one year, tho honor to bo drawn successively, success-ively, (hat every stato in due course may be represented at the head of the general government. The name of the union is to be the Republic, of Central America. The uew republic, will be iuaiiguraled at the capital of Honduras tho loth of September Septem-ber next. |
