It is not with the good parson, however, that this story has to do, but with the parson's wife. A general , alarm had seized upon the community, and tho people were flocking flock-ing to the fort for security. A man was sent to the parsonage to warn Madam Boardrnan of the danger from a hostile attack, and to help her a:ul tho children to escape. He was excited, aud naturally natur-ally urged immediate haste. To this the quiet woman calmly replied re-plied that she would be ready to start "as soon as she had knit into the seam needle."
