Show Boards of Education j To Study Curriculum I The local boards of education are arc I charged with the responsibility of stud studying ing the curriculum to meet the needs of the l local l boys and girls and to see to it that the tha chaff eliminated is I from front the wheat This is the I substance of the appeal made in the I I April issue of the Utah Taxpayer to i our school people to train boys and girls for citizenship at home andI I i Dean Cubberly's recent statement I respecting the of chaff chaffI among the wheat is quoted It is I pointed out that the school system is a slave to entrance examinations I and that no one assumes ity responsibility for this antiquated set up The Taxpayer regards the local I board of education as the one that make the beginning to correct this haphazard impractical course of study In a very definite way they suggest to the boards of education that they study the things that their own boys and girls need to keep them at home then to base the number themI of I teachers upon the nature of the course of stud study and to estimate the I physical requirements after having determined the course of study and the number of teachers t It is also suggested that a dally daily program be so arran arranged ed as to p ll boys and girls where needed to o outside work and to remember that tha tha the school is made for the bo boy an and not the boy for the school Important statistics are given on capital investments school bonds and the costs of operation of elementary and high schools tI tl is shown that these costs have grown from less than to in the last ten years |
