Show hind kind birds I 1 may perhaps add the following account of 0 a rook or rather of two rooks which I 1 sent to mid and water some years back 1 I read with kith much mach interest in your last issue lit in mr reids communication the following passage 1 I observed a curious thing one day lately some food by somo some good christian had been thrown out to the starving birds when a rook como come down and how flow back to where ho bad left another rook sitting in a acry ery weak looking condition and fed lier ter with what lie he had picked up tills rills he ha did twice in my sight before taking anything to himself it was an interesting sight and I 1 was as very much pleased with it 11 I 1 mas particularly struck with this because I 1 had some time previous received front from a correspondent an in wales a stranger to 16 me a prec precisely isely sli similar villar a account e of another of these birds what I 1 wanted to mention was this ono one day in the bitterest of the weather when I 1 am sure our friend the rook I 1 havo have spoken of was wag indeed induced to great extremities tile the bird performed the following good deed it picked up a bit af pf broad carried it 11 to another rook which sat bat on the terrace wall too loo shy to couie come nearer and tod fed it there nor was this after having satisfied its own hunger fur it had only just lighted I 1 oil whon when I 1 put this little story down I 1 had a misgiving that any one who he might read it would scarcely bo be disposed to believe behave it as beyond credibility I 1 was therefore much gratified at having so soon afterward seen such an exactly similar s tact fact recorded lit in corroboration of it as above it was indeed I 1 think a vary very touching incident and one to make every overy everyone one I 1 should hop w who ito roads reads it have much good feel feeling ing for all gods creatures spectator I 1 |
