Show f AMERICAN ANTIMONY COMPANY A new industry for utah and one that promises encouraging results A short time ago it was stated in these columns that capitalists of butte montana had become interested in the antimony deposits in garfield gareld county utah principally owned by benjamin hampton of salt lake city from all accounts these are about the only deposits of antimony of importance in the west although near kingston idaho in ane coeur d abenes dA A lenes there are superficial lenses which have been worked spasmodically modi cally and with only a moderate degree of success As a result of the acquisition of utah antimony deposits by montana people and their associates a company has been formed for their operation and development this which filed its articles of incorporation po ration at helena a few days ago is named the american antimony company having a capitalization of its it holdings embrace nine patented claims fourteen claims four mill sites two water power rights and feet of placer ground the are louis P saunders william 0 dierks and thomas campbell campbeli of butte and anthony and E H godbe of salt lake city on the companas comp anys property it is estimated that there are tons of antimony ore in sight which can be blasted from the side of the mountain plans have been agreed upon for the construction of a reduction plant to cost and work upon which will be commenced november 1 the plant will be able to handle about fifty tons of ore daily which will produce ten tons of marketable antimony which is now worth 25 cents a pound there Ts is a heavy demand for it in many commercial lines it is said that the new plant will be producing inside of six months the anaconda standard in making t mention of the incorporation of the american antimony company says the butte men interested in the american antimony company have put up their share of the money required in the purchase of the antimony property located in garfield county utah and the purchase and installation of a plant to treat the ore the utah men have also deposited their share and all of the cash is now in bank the amount is and each of the parties put in an equal sum it is estimated that the plant will cost not to exceed which will leave for the purchase of the mines of this sum benjamin hampton who owns the property will receive in cash on october and six months later and can then take er either ther cash when the remainder is due or shares of stock at 1 per share it is understood that he wants the shares in lieu of the money the sto stock ck which the company intends to sell is to raise money with which to reimburse those who have put up the for the purchase of the mines and construction of the plant thompson campbell one of the head men of the enterprise stated yesterday that anthony godbe the utah expert on antimony and other metals had written him to the effect that he intended to go to arizona for the purpose of inspecting a 15 ton lead zinc plant in which about the same process bior or t te rating lead zinc ores is used as that so successfully used in treating ores the company has practically taken charge of the property but has given hampton the privilege of extracting from it forty tons of stub nite which is about 70 per cent antimony before the first of october all ore that runs less than 50 per cent goes to the company the butte and utah men will take active hold of the property on the first of the coming 0 month mr campbell says that a few years ago the government removed the 20 per cent ad valorem valoree duty on imported antimony ores because there was no ore of that class in this country with the exception of the utah ore but it will be asked to restore vie the duty |
