Show VOLUME 8 NUMBER 1 with this issue the mining review enters upon the eighth year of its existence in the publication of a paper age so much desired in does not seem to be anywhere near at hand and although the tireless workers who compile and collate the matter which should be of interest to the great army of readers are always looking forward to the future still time passes slowly as each issue goes to press and it is not until one reviews the past that a realization comes that the months have been fleeting and that after all a year is but a moment and that many hours of toil and labor seem to cover but an infinitely small period of time when contemplated tem plated from the standpoint of years so it is with the mining review for seven years it has made its regular appear appearance the aim of its publishers being to make each issue better than the one before and yet it seems hardly more than a year since the initial number was given to the public and yet during this period of seven years great changes have taken place in the history of this paper in the beginning it embraced but twenty pages and it was a que question if it could live through the first twelve months of its existence now it is a magazine of fifty two pages and is so thoroughly established that it is regarded as one of the permanent institutions of salt lake city and the west the first number of volume I 1 had barely eight pages of advertising while now it contains twenty eight and this of the very best bes t character of necessity upon the first appearance of the mining review its issue was limited now it can boast of a splendid circulation throughout the hundreds of mining camps of this great intermountain region as well as in the business and financial centers of the east and its influence for good and the up building of the mining industry is widespread and still growing from the very first number it has been the intention and policy of the mining minin review to publish a reliable legitimate and enterprising paper and the contents of each number its reading as well as its advertising columns have been of such character as to inspire confidence in the mind of the reader and to call for his approbation and approval and for the reason that all fake stuff has been religiously excluded while all the news all the time has been the object and aim of the editor and publisher that the mining review has met with unqualified success is proven by the fact that the paper has grown beyond the most sanguine expectation of its owners the splendid patronage accorded it by gilt edged advertisers proves this to say nothing of the steady growth in circulation which is almost entirely confined to a fine class of people consisting of mine owners mine managers superintendents engineers and fillmen mill men business men who are interested in mining affairs capitalists and investors ve and we say it with pleasure if not with pride that several millionaires are on the list in starting out with volume 8 it is the hope and intention to make the mining review better than ever before not to do so in view of the wonderful interest being taken in the mining industry the world over would be showing a lack of appreciation of advantages and of opportunities offered in the mining line and no effort will be spared to maintain in the future the high standing that the review has attained in the past |
