Show LONE MOUNTAIN DISTRICT miner tonopah To nev A largely attended meeting of miners mine owners and others interested in the lone mountain mining district was held at the office of J W langley last monday evening to transact the annual business of the district which was organized on the of july 1904 the old officers C H reynolds president wallace mcneill recorder and W J stoneham secretary were unanimously reelected elected re and a new office of vice president was created to fill which D C smith of the argenta mining company was elected the president then addressed the meeting on the importance of the lone star fluxing flexing ores which have been neglected on and other new camps and suggested that some steps be taken to bring the great merits of the camp to the notice of the public lic J W langley heartily concurred in this stating that he believed that the dev develop elop ment of the veins would open up sufficiently extensive bodies of ore to make this district one of the greatest smelting smelling sm elting points in the west W J stoneham suggested that an illustrated pamphlet be prepared giving the fullest details of the district in a strictly conservative manner thomas R bannerman J B briggs W H dr G schick and others heartily commended mr Stone hams plan and a subscription was started to defray the cost of printing etc mr stoneham offering to write the pamphlet without charge A considerable sum of money was pledged among those who subscribed beng being J W langley the argenta mining company the tonopah monarch alenin mining e company J W travers F J mcmullen D C smith J A sherlock B T thomas H E simmons S A knapp dr G schick sam C dunham and others A finance committee was then appointed to interview others interested in the district I 1 the meeting was remarkable for the manner in which every pe person present expressed ills his sincere conviction in the ultimate ma te great future of the lone mountain mining district several quoting eminent eilline nt experts in support of their opinions |
