Show WHO CAN TELL who can tell what a day may bring f forth in the canyons in the hills of the great mineralized erali zed belts stretching from the eastern foothills of the rocky mountain range to the western slope of the sierra nevadas and from the land of the Monte to the regions I 1 g ions of almost perpetual snow in the frozen north many instances can be cited where it was claimed that well known producers were the only mines that would be found in certain camps and yet time has proven that this was a mistaken idea as other bonanzas have since been fo found und that were not only strong rivals of the early breadwinners bread winners but which have actually eclipsed them in point of production and actual worth and these new propositions in many instances have been found in localities that have been gone over and visited many times by the prospector and mining operator who were so strongly impressed with the prevailing opinion that rich deposits of the precious metals were a physical impossibility in the ground that they thought they were so familiar with that they never took the pains or trouble to th thoroughly orough ly investigate into hito its true merit or possibilities the same condition holds good in regard to unexplored territory throughout tle the west wept and many new districts of marked promise are neglected and ignored which in time will give to the world another park city another butte another tonopah and another goldfield this being the case wh tell where the next new and important strike will be made will it be in some distant portion of utah and adjoining states or in some of our older and better known camps will a second silver king come into existence to vie with another ontario or will a great bonanza be found in a locality isolated from the outside world nevada in the early days in the days when the great comstock was in its prime when the mountain ranges of the battle born state could boast of a hundred camps that were wonders for that day and age was believed by the old timer to have been thoroughly prospected and yet today mar m ar finds are being found in localities which thirty years ago were rep repeatedly gone over by an army of prospectors the state is now once again being scoured from one end to the other by scores of treasure seekers and who can tell what they will discover in the mountain passes the canyons and the low foothills where more than a quarter of a century ago a similar horde of enthusiastic miners had passed along passing by and passing up mineral propositions that the mining man of today would classify as bonanzas were he so fortunate as to find them the comstock lode it is estimated has produced the enormous sum of six hundred million it is claimed that goldfield will in time double this amount A long interval has elapsed since the discovery of the comstock goldfield is but twelve months old and yet no doubt but that within the next six months another camp equally as rich will be found somewhere in this intermountain region who can tell if it will be in utah nevada idaho montana arizona or in colorado it may be found within five miles of salt lake city and it may be even now that men are daily tramping over ground which within a brief period will create immense excitement because of its wonderful mineral wealth we cannot tell what dame nature has so cunningly hidden from our vision this generation may not be able to find it but the time will come when magnificent mining camps will spring up in localities now but little known in mining circles and by men of but little local renown and who today have but little means with which to prosecute work upon their discoveries who can tell |
