Show THE DON PEDRO OF STOCKTON L F peer secretary and treasurer of the don pedro mining company own owning ing a promising and valuable group of claims in the heart of the splendid mineral belt of stockton has returned from quite an extended visit to this wealth producing camp which several years ago or during the early history of mining in utah was noted all over the west for its prolific output of exceptionally high grade silver lead ore the holdings of the don pedro company are most desirably located being but feet east of the great honorine and but a short distance west from the mine of the stockton mining company in the workings of which a splendid body of shipping ore has been opened of late on the the character of the output being block galena and lead and sand carbonates and it has been demonstrated that the property in which mr peer is interested is located on the same mineral belt and almost identically the same formation which is fissures in porphyry with a north and south trend cut by lime and quartzite belts running M east and west the big ore bodies of the district making at the intersection of the porphyry fissures and the east and west lime stratas the don pedro is also in the near vicinity of the west argent mine and as it is virtually surrounded by these properties of note the company is sanguine and conf confident dent that with systematic development a permanent and regular producer and paying mine will eventually be listed with the other mines of the camp in the development of the don pedro pedro which produced considerable good ore a few years ago a tunnel has been run for a distance of feet of which was on ore present work consisting in the running of a crosscut cross cut from the tunnel to tap one of the porphyry fissures embraced within the boundary lines of the group while several surface openings have been made all of which show mineral within a short time the company will begin the sinking of a shaft for the purpose of going to 10 the deep in the exploration of the mine it being the intention to equip the property with hoisting works sometime during the coming fall or winter the extensive workings of the honorine will doubtless drain the don pedro so that it is not likely that the company will experience any trouble from this source mr peer is much pleased with the push and activity at stockton at the present time and feels confident that another year will see quite a number of stockton mines in the dividend paying column |
