Show RECENT MINING MENS conference the instant and general endorsement of resolution ap 1 adopted by the conference of western mining men at denver june 2021 20 21 indicates that had the convention done nothing z else it would have been abundantly justified the resolution reads as follows this conference of mining 6 men representing the mining industry of the entire west protests most emphatically against paternalism and governmental interference with private business and personal liberties and initiative and calls for the abolition of the many unnecessary bureaus commissions and other tax consuming b governmental agencies both state and national conti continually dually seeking new fields in which to justify salaries at the expense of the public thus adding constantly burdens of taxation the resolution has already received wide editorial support p ort and has been endorsed by other organizations 6 as the expression of views widely held among business men gen brally outside as well as inside the mining industry the resolution was drafted drafted and presented to the conference by sidney norman of spokane and A G mackenzie of salt lake city another resolution adopted by the conference declares in favor of legislation to safeguard the public against fraudulent promotions but condemns all measures containing the principle which sets up an individual or commission to pass upon investments without appeal and condemns the so called denison blue sky bill and all legislation 6 that proposes to go 6 0 beyond reasonable protection of the public and to violate those individual rights and destroy that initiative which has made the united states the great nation it is today another resolution requests congress to consider at an early date the international stabilization of silver so as to eliminate private manipulation which operates to the disadvantage of silver producers and those who otherwise would be larger users of the white metal the conference adopted a plan for the formation of a western division of the Ame american mining congress to be governed by a board of directors consisting co ri of two from each of the thirteen western metal mining states the directors are to meet semiannually semi annually or oftener if necessary and the organization will seek to unite more closely the mining industry in the western states and to advise the national organization of the american mining bogress Co gress es s with respect to the desires of the western states the meting me was largely attended by representative mine operators from the western vestern states and the interest was pronounced more intense than at any similar meeting for several years |
