Show DRILLING PROGRESS IN FALLON FIELD fallon fallen nevada july 12 all conditions considered drilling has made good progress in the fallon oil field the past week syndicate handled a fishing b job in quick order and resu resumed ined drillen drilling but the sand has changed b to a very hard formation again and the bit makes slow headway it is hoped that an oil sand underplays under lays the liard hard material the bit as this is written has reached a depth of feet the company has feet of 6 12 1 2 inch casing I 1 on the I 1 ground ready for use whenever the bit enters another oil sand should such formation be not encountered within a short time then the upper oil sand will be tested out for production the casin casing b for the diamond oil company is is reported as on the way if there is no material railroad delay it should reach fallon by the latter part of the week the crew is all ready and waiting for it teams have been engaged and everything set for rapid work the moment casing casing arrives arrives the casin casing for the fallon union arrived last last week and drilling is is in in progress at last report the hole was at a depth of 64 feet As previously stated the company has been financed by california parties the lahontan nevada management t has deemed it necessary to levy another assessment no 5 it is discouraging that the work has not made greater progress but it is is one of the accompaniments of drilling in a new field the very best expert advice has been called in the delay is in getting the casing past the caved in portion i of the hole however conditions seem to be improving and the chances are that the hard formation will be reached within a short time once this formation is a again ain reached there will be no trouble many persons do not understand that it is very often much more difficult to get casing through soft caving ground a second time than it is to drill through it the caving may cause a crooked hole or a choking up that cannot be gotten over by any means while it is a slow tedious job it is better to submit to the extra delays and expense than to attempt to rush the work and loose the hole A 10 12 1 2 inch hole to a depth 2065 feet is one worth caring for and saving just as soon scon as the casing can be landed on a hard formation an effort will be made to test out the sands for production it if would appear from character of sands and it is also the opinion of experts that the showing which was made at 1485 1481 feet will develop oil it is the caving ground above this that has caused all the delay and expense |
