Show UTAH ON BRINK OF BIG OIL BOOM after having passed through a number of oil boom lets during the past twenty years utah now seems on the very brink of an oil and oil shale boom that will attract countrywide country wide if not worldwide world wide attention the movement predicating such a condition was launched only a few months ago when it became known that a number of the biggest oil companies in the world had decided to test out structures upon which their field geologists had made favorable reports and embraced largely within the counties of emery wayne garfield and kane this vast region extends from the coal producing regions on oil the north clear through to the colorado river on the south and southeast and the green river on the east cast its oil yielding possibilities have been recognized and described by government geologists times without number and only a few years ago much of this vast field was included in the naval oil reserve restrictions of the govern government men t notably the san ratael rafael swell region of emery county the recently enacted oil leasing la laws ws which have made it possible for bona fide prospectors to secure permits to drill and lease lands in these fields under prescribed restrictions evidently have paved the way for extensive development campaigns now being inaugurated as rapidly as leases can be secured hundreds of permits to prospect have been granted and the number is being added to all the time numerous leases already have been approved and granted and many trainloads train loads of equipment and supplies have gone and still are being rushed into the field from the most advantageous railroad points from all accounts nothing is being done by halves the big companies are preparing to go to any depth and it is reported that they will spend a million dollars or more during the present year all other concerns or individuals will be compelled to live up to the requirements of their government leases and fish or cut bait so there will be little chance for the boomers who have no other purpose than to organize sell stock and pocket the n money ioney at least the presumption is that government inspectors will hold a tight checkrein check rein and keep the liquid gold crooks within bounds and while all this is going on in the oil drilling field movement the fact must not be overlooked that great strides are being made in working out the problems affecting the commercialization of the oil yielding shale industry in utah and the adjoining ta states in the case cas e of oil the matter of possible productive yield is not a problem that feature has long since been accurately determined neither is there any question about the matter of making these yield their content the problem of mining them is not serious every proposition will have its own problems in that re to solve and it will be done just as readily and just as comprehensively as our metal mining problems are solved the one other the great problem of quickly and profitably recovering the oil making ingredients of these vast shale deposits is so far along in the stages of mechanical ch anical and chemical solution that success is already practically assured though improvements prove ments and refinements may be expected to go on for years just as they have done and still are doing in the processes of milling and smelting smelling sm elting metal p producing cing ores would you enjoy and profit by entering approaching oil field and oil shale mining boom if so enter now the door of opportunity is wide open 0 |
