Show MINING EXHIBIT AT STATE FAIR while the mining exhibit at the utah state fair last fall was by far the best that has been made for a number of years the fact is that it was not commensurate with the magnitude of the industry and could be greatly improved upon the mining industry of U utah tah in importance surmounts any and all of our other industries it means more from a financial and commercial standpoint than agriculture horticulture stock raising and kindred pursuits and yet at the annual fair its exhibits fade into insignificance compared to the display made and importance accorded other lines of endeavor this being the case why should not a greater effort be made to give this industry the prominence it deserves why should agriculture stock raising and fruit growing interests be given big buildings for their exhibits and the mining display confined to a little shack where really no exhibit worm mentioning can be made why not make the mining exhibit something worta while and in the schedule for fair week have one day set apart as mining day it is possible and quite probable that the bureau of mines would willingly cooper co oper ate in such a meritorious proposition that the industrial commission would join in making mining a feature of fair week that the mining operators of the state would join heartily in such an innovation and that the utah state school of mines would help father the proposition is not to be doubted during fair week dealers in agricultural machinery keep things humming in different portions of the grounds with some enterprising ter mining machinery man trying to keep in the running with the minds of the masses centered upon any and everything excepting the mining industry this being the case why should not the quarters of the mining exhibit be large enough and commodious enough so that machinery and supply dealers can have TOOM room so that all these kindred interests can be gathered under one roof or in adjoining buildings so that an exhibit can be made of machinery in motion a rock drilling machine a flotation plant crushers rolls and stamps coal digging machinery with tipple box cai loader and screening devices under full swing those interested in mining operations in utah could make a great feature of the industry it all would join hands in the effort to make the fair exhibit equal if not better than any other display and we believe that with the operation cooperation co of the different interests such as the operators the schools the different engineering and mining societies including interested individuals the mining exhibit next fall could be made so attractive and so instructive that a most striking impression favorable to mining could be made upon the many thousands who annually visit the utah state fair |
