Show NEWS NOTES FROM WYOMING the allied oil company has commenced a deep well in la barge field of lincoln county using a national machine the company plans to go to a depth of 2000 feet with present equipment and then if oil in commercial quantity has not been discovered it will build a standard rig and continue the hole to the foot point the lincoln idaho oil company is preparing to put down a well in the waterfall fa 11 district east of kemmerer the ground lies within a government oil withdrawal of 1908 but was filed upon seven years prior to that time tim and assessment work was kept up continuously so it is believed that the companas comp anys right will stand the encountering of oil and gas at a depth of feet in an unknown field about twenty miles east of kirby has caused a rush into that section little attention has been paid the structure by oil men in the past but engineers now declare that it offers good possibilities within two days after the information regarding the well was given out the country was located for several miles the american oil companas Comp anys first well drilled on the farm near greybull came in as a gusher about the middle of the month at a depth of 1275 feet the actual drilling time was sixteen days drill ers say it is equal to the best wells in the greybull field well no 2 is to be put down immediately on the same tract this is a utah company of which J R greenless is president geologist A G burritt after an extensive examination of the entire fossil field in lincoln county says that he has obtained absolute proof of the existence there of a well defined anticline some authorities have declared the field to be over a syncline the apex of the anticline is situated about on the line separating the holdings of the wood development company from those of the mascot oil refining company both of which are now drilling mr burritt expresses the belief that the structure will be an important producer the wood interests are now preparing to put down a test well to depth at this point mr burritt has recently made an investigation of the lost soldier field also and says that development work there is extending westward and in a comparatively short time will reach the dry piney and la barge fields which district is destined to become a great producer |
