Show COPPER PRICE CONTINUED washington oct 28 president wilson today approved a continuance of the present price of copper at 26 cents the pound until january 1st ast The normal period for which the price would be fixed is three months but the present price is continued for two months without a meeting of the industry because of the influenza epidemic relative to the matter of the government extending the 26 cent a pound copper to january it is remarked that some men in touch with the situation tah k that the government will control tho the price not only while hostilities continue but for something like two years thereafter so as to avoid any drastic readjustment in prices when peace comes and in all probability they add when the war is over this government will see to it that the allies requirements for the red metal covering a period of years will be placed before consideration is given to inquiries from other countries it is more than a year now since tho the government fixed the price of copper at 2312 23 cents a pound announcement to this effect was made september 21 1917 and became effective october 1st ast on july 2nd and last the price was increased to 26 cents a pound |
