Show development OF CHLORIDE edward C copley well known mining man formerly of isalt lake but now operating in the chloride district of arizona has the following to say regarding developments of that section which is now rap idy coming to the front in a mining way the closing of a deal on the payroll mine by A H godbe and A 11 ald aid who made a trip to new york to secure the property from the owner IT B scott insures another mill for the district as the mine has sufficient ore blocked out above the level and the contract for the property calls for the immediate erection of a mill to treat the ores on a royalty basis it is understood that the property was secured under a ten year lease with an option to purchase the payroll mine adjoins the georgia which is now being operated by salt lake capital with H M eakin a former utah mining superintendent in charge the bullion hill group which was recently purchased by jesse knight and associates adjoins the georgia on the opposite end A complete electrical equipment tor for sinking a 1000 foot shaft on the bullion hill ground has already been ordered and a gallows frame is installed finances for this company have been furnished by mr knight and his associates and it is doubtful if any stock will be placed on the market ati at present A flotation mill of tons capacity is being installed on the schuylkill mine which adjoins the bullion hill property on the west this mine is being operated iby by howard broughton of san francisco and frank A keith one of the principal owners of the united eastern mine at oatman the schuylkill is developed to the foot level and carries exceptionally high grade gold values the gold occurs in the iron sulphides sulp hides and wherever these are found in quantity the ore carries from 40 to 60 in gold an average of 17 per cent zinc in the ore makes it necessary to separate the lead zinc and iron values before shipping the elkhart mine adjoining the kill has just been taken over by E W hshanks and R E whitcomb Whitco mib of san isan francisco with whom axe are associated a group of honolulu sugar refiners finers re the old shaft on this property is being placed in shape for the extraction of ore already developed in the mine and the E elkhart mill is being rebuilt for the purpose of treating the tailings dumps by flotation this plant will be used for testing the ores in the mine in order to determine the best method of treating them after which a larger plant will he be installed the mill at the keystone mine is completed and ready for the initial tryout try out the new triple compartment shaft situated just about the mill is connected with the foot level of the old workings and preparations are being made for the extraction of ore from this level A drift is being run in the old shaft on the 9 foot level following a high grade streak about three feet in thickness the ithe last assay of this high grade streak showed a ton in silver and gold the vein is between twelve and fifteen feet thick on the foot level and is reported to carry milling values for the ivull width A strike of copper ore has just been made on the george washington located a short distance above the keystone of high grade copper glance and black and red oxides over half of it being of an average of 40 per cent copper and seventy ounces silver this strike was made in the upper tunnel on the property not far helow below the surface but will soon be developed by a lower tunnel which is extended to a point close to the ore shoot just developed above three other strikes of importance were made during the last three weeks on the emerson property one mile from chloride five feet of ore has been developed in a tunnel at a depth of feet averaging 56 in gold and silver the gold values predominating on the hidden treasure property which has the southerly extension of the emerson a nine foot vein has been cut at a depth of feet the values being of a milling grade for the entire width on the diana property lying in the flat to the west of the town of chloride ore has just been struck on the ISO foot level from which a 1500 pound sample gave an average of gold and 47 in silver mr copley and his associates are interested te rested in the argyle group which is part of the elkhart mines companas Comp anys property and adjoins the elkhart claim it is held under a ten year lease and a company is being formed to work this ground through a foot vertical shaft from which it will be possible to cut the elkhart schuylkill vein with very little development |
