Show L D GORDON MAKING GOOD L D gordon formerly of salt lake and well known in mining circles and who was the discoverer of the round mountain mine at round mountain nevada is making good with the old cerro gordo mins near keeler california in making mention of this property the herald of bishop california says the production of the cerro gordo mine shows that that property once famous for its gold and silver output is now playing an important part in the production of california according to a statement issued by L D gordon manager of the mine the cerro gordo produced pounds of lead in 1914 the total amount of ore shipped from the mine that year was tons I 1 this ore contained ounces of gold ounces of silver pounds of lead and pounds of copper in addition tons of zinc ore were shipped containing pounds of zinc the reason for the comparatively small zinc production last year was the lack of adequate transportation facilities and the low price of spelter zinc shipments were resumed on the first of march of this year and since that time three hundred tons have been shipped the reconstruction of the aerial tramway from cerro gordo to the railroad at keeler has been begun at present there are about twenty men engaged on the work which is under contract to A leschen and sons of st louis mo it is expected that the tramway will be completed by the first of july it will handle about tons or of product daily when the tramway is completed screening and sorting of slag will again commence between fifteen and twenty tons per day of this material will be shipped the mine itself is in excellent condition and gives promise of being a steady producer for many years |
