Show ENGINEERS HAVE TWO MEETINGS the utah society of engineers had two meetings last week on monday the arthur P davis chief engineer of the united states reclamation service gave an illustrated talk on government irrigation projects this talk was heard by a lar large ge audience which expressed a great appreciation of the excellent colored photographs shown illustrating some of the difficulties met and overcome in carrying out some of the projects those of the greatest interest were the strawberry project in utah and the roosevelt dam in arizona illustrations showed the great difficulty in transportation at the latter place and how it was overcome Hand handling lino locomotives over deep canyons by aerial ropeways rop eways was one of the most striking illustrations on friday evening the L 0 howard associate editor of the mining review spoke on the development of our radium bearing ores this paper is reproduced elsewhere in this issue in full mr howard displayed many specimens of ore from different parts of the state radiographs radiography radio graphs from the different ores specimens of petrified wood and bone filled with ore and illustrated his paper with a number of views of the work at camp green river where the radium company of america is now conducting operations the program for the rest of the season will be printed in a latter issue |
