Show THE mcnamara confession at the present time a worldwide world wide interest is being taken in the confession of the mcnamara brothers at los angeles in which they admit the blowing up of the times building and dynamiting the llewellyn iron works the confession comes as a shock to labor unions and to those who have implicitly believed believe d in the innocence of the accused men it shows however that it is wrong to hold to the theory that no member of a union would or could be guilty of such a crime and demonstrates the fact that it is not because of a hostile attitude to unionism that officers of the law lay the blame of unlawful conduct on the men to whom it belongs and the result will be that no longer will such bitter opposition be evidenced when an accusation cusa tion of crime is made against a member of a labor union that the rank and file of union men were absolutely in ignorance of the awful crimes perpetrated by some of its members is shown by their emphatic condemnation of the self confessed murderers and dynamiters dyna miters who recently appeared before a los angeles tribunal of justice and hundreds of appeals were made by them that the guilty be given the full and extreme penalty of the law while it is the wish and desire of the better element of unionism that the f far ar reaching arm of the law be extended to those higher up for no doubts doubt exists but that tile the mcnamara brothers were but the tools of those possessed of greater authority than were the real perpetrators of the crimes for which they have been condemned the tragic conclusion of the mcnamara case will not hurt the cause of unionism as far as the better element is con concerned cernea but it will be a warning to them to rid themselves of dishonest and lawless leaders and of the dissolute army of thugs and vagabonds who are ever ready to use organized labor as a cloak for evil doing |
