Show JARBIDGE IN THE PUBLIC PU EYE george wingfield and patsy dark clark getting foothold in the camp special correspondence jarbidge harbidge Jar bidge sept 8 the great gold camp of jarbidge harbidge Jar bidge is slowly but surely coming to the front regardless of all adverse outside conditions the wonderful resources of its veins and ore bodies cannot be longer hid as nature helps to expose them to view the magnitude of the district continues to expand the two latest discoveries being six miles apart and on opposite sides of the main jarbidge harbidge Jar bidge range several very important strikes have been made during the past month and at least two of them already give promise of being equal to any mine in the camp and while this camp may not produce a fifty million dollar mine there is every promise that it will produce a larger number of half million and million dollar mines than any other camp in the country has had there is no question but that the mines are here now what the camp needs is money to develop the mines and of as much importance is it that practical mining wen should be in charge of the spen spending spendin din of this money sheepherders and counter jumpers have demonstrated that they are not howling successes as mine operators the camp is now nearly two years old and with the vast facilities of the camp great ore bodies rich ore fine tunnel sites abundance of wood and water railroads within eighty miles both to the north and south what has been the result one small shipment of ore that we know went out and one little brick of gold which is said to have been sent out only this when the camp should now be one of the big steady shippers of the state the first glimmer of hope for the future of the camp has been the recent deal made here by george wingfield the first big mine operator to take hold of a property in the camp following closely the signing oz of papers by the nevada promoter comes a representative of patsey dark clark who is so well pleased with the showings that he goes back with a possible price set on another big property there are several other good big properties already partly opened in the camp which give wonderful promises of making even greater mines and now that the movement is started there will probably follow several other deals in a short time building wagon roads since my last letter to your paper there have been some great improvements in the camp the wagon road from deeth has been finished and is in constant use both for freight and passenger traffic the autos making the run from deeth to the town of harbidge jarbidge Jar bidge e in six hours the crippen grade is nearly finished which will soon permit the autos from twin palls falls to come into town whereas they now have to stop at jack hole the telephone line is finished from harbidge jarbidge Jar hidge bidge to rogerson and connects there with both the bell long distance and with the western union and several new and rich strikes have been made the most important new discoveries are the bacon in the fifth crater seven miles southeast of town the blue top one mile northeast of town the alpha three fourths mile southeast of the bourne mine the buckeye one half mile south of the alpha the colonel george one mile north of the bacon and the etta B half a mile north of the colonel george the vein on the flaxie has been drifted on from the bottom of the shaft for about twenty feet each way and the size and value of the ore hold fully as good as in the shaft no assays essays have been made on it but from numerous bannings pann ings the average value is estimated at 30 to 40 per ton the vein being the full size of the drift from four to five feet wide the alpha vein has been opened in several places along the surface and shows from three to eight feet wide an and pans the best of any ore in the district several assays essays from three feet of the ledge gave an average of a little over per ton some of the finest specimen ore seen in camp has been brought down from this property showing slabs and flakes of gold from an eighth of an inch to three six of an inch face the buckeye vein has been opened by cuts to bedrock bed rock every fifty feet or so for a distance of over feet along the vein and in all these outs the ore pans well the vein showing from six to twelve feet wide thus making one of the finest showings in the camp the clark fletcher mill the clark fletcher mill on the bourne mine has been trying to run for about a month this started out to be a ten stamp mill with cyanide attachment but wound up a baby rock crusher a hardinge conical mill a patent classifier a patent amalgamator a new patent concentrator and a gasoline engine for power they run once in a while for a few hours and it is report reported ad that they have made one small cleanup clean up they have had to rebuild half of the tramway and will probably have to put in a larger crusher they have ordered a set of rolls to help out the grinding the camp in the meantime waiting anxiously with the outside investing public for news of bullion returns from the ri rich ch ore from this mine the pavlak mill tried to start two weeks ago but found some screens were missing and expect to make another trial in a day or two the true Fis surA company has given up the idea of trying to put in a mill this season on fall creek they have also abandoned their long tunnel for the present as they made the mistake of starting it in slide rock and apparently in a place where the greater part of the distance would have to be run through slide material which would make it very expensive if not absolutely dangerous the tunnel on the rabbit foot after running seventy feet through slide rock and lee ice has entered the bedrock after running a short distance in the solid rock they will crosscut cross cut for the vein the tunnel on rosebud no 2 is in about sixty feet and is still in slide rock and ice these two tunnels are being run in on the north slope of one of the crater basins v where here it seems the ice in the slide rock does not get a chance fo t 0 thaw out the miners working in this material say it is the most discouraging kind of formation to run a tunnel in as it neither drills blasts nor picks to any advantage the ithe bluster company are running a tunnel nel to cut their vein at a depth of about 2200 feet this is in over one hundred feet and has about two hundred feet more to run the drifts from the shaft are showing better ore than heretofore found in the vein the gold is fine and does not show very much to the eye but the ore when panned that is selected pieces would seem to be one quarter gold there are five leasers leaders working on this property they are all running tunnels to cut the vein at a little depth so as to be in the solid rock and be better fixed to work during the winter wingfield has option george wingfield has taken an option on oil a group of claims just north of the bluster consisting of the success american man american man fraction gold crystal it and rock creek claims A vein has been opened on the rock creek good bannings pann ings are found in several cuts along the it in the surface dirt but the vein has not been located on the success the bluster vein lias has been opened and shows between five and six feet wide with average values of 20 to 30 per ton the bluster vein has been traced down the side of the range across part of the success it and sliver claims to bonanza gulch about feet lower down mr wingfield has a corps of his assistants on the ground and will push development work on a large scale at the pavlak several are being opened up in both tunnels A drift is being run in from cold springs gulch to connect with the north drift from the lower tunnel for ventilation considerable ore is broken down ready for the mill some very fine specimen ore is being taken down in both the upper and lower tunnels from the 4 11 vein the telephone company has put up a fine frame building for an office and central exchange the company has also contracted for cutting poles digging holes and setting the poles on the line from harbidge jarbidge Jar Jai bidge to deeth and elko labor day was celebrated in good style with base ball drilling contest races of all kinds sparring match and dance several tacoma parties are visitors in camp and have been highly pleased with the showings all over the camp they are interested in the jarbidge harbidge nevada co which is running two tunnels to cut their big vein they are well satisfied with the progress being made in the tunnels W W FISK |
