Show THE VIRGINIA MINING CO standard junction idaho the virginia mining alining company W A byers of salt lake president and general manager with field of operation at sandy creek four miles from nearest point G P R R and ten miles from sunfield the property which is being patented comprises ten claims and a three of th veins which are well defined parallel each other within the boundaries of the foot side lines the property was located by the mckillip brothers in 1891 and in 1893 an aras tra was put in place and operated during that year and the year following through which operations although conducted on a small scale considerable gold was taken from the primitive slow going mill in 1903 seven years ago the property was purchased from its original owners and a company organized and incorporated under thenamae the name of the virginia mining company as per above and a five stamp mill amalgamating was installed in the meantime mining and milling being carried on with a force of twenty five or thirty men the ores are copper gold and with increased depth became too base for amalgamation and eventually the mill was closed down although since that time the management have kept up its lick in systematic development the old workings represent a foot tunnel on the vein with very slight depth gained the dip of the vein being very flat almost a blanket also several surface gouges about a year ago a crosscut which would tap the vein at depth was begun and this season president byers working a small force broke into the vein also into four feet of copper gold ore at the depth of feet below surface on the perpendicular the distance between portal and point of intersection ter section being feet the new find which is to be regarded as one of the best of the season averages a heavy per cent in copper and carries excellent gold values in fact it is said tobe a high grade shipping proposition in the crude and we understand that the company is making preparations to commence shipping at an early day A good wagon road connects the mines with the railroad the distance between as we before stated being but five miles |
