sang will return to her home during the coming spring months after 4 three years of f devoted study under famous masters of ot Berlin and Paris There is isa a treat In store for public It is understood that Miss Ramsey will be heard In the principal cities of the state 4 though of ot course no definite plans have yet et been formulated S 4 4 Miss Mis Ramseys s progress during the three years has Been almost wonderful and competent critics pro pronounce pronounce 4 4 her singing very artistic The training she had for fOt two years in Berlin supplemented supple by a year under 4 M the famous vocal teacher of Paris has imparted a character and finish to her singing that at 4 once reveals the artiste Her Utah friends will notice a great reat change in the quality of her voice but It is a t change that adds charm and power and dramatic intensity to her singing while preserving the natural sweetness sweet sweetness sweetness ness that was w always so pleasing A pronounced dramatic temperament is shown in fn n every note she sings 4 Miss Ramsey Is meeting with gratifying success In Paris and her teacher M 31 Is sanguine san of 4 4 her future Under his direction she has recently appeared in a concert attended by many man leading musicians of 4 Paris Jaris and the ovation she received was magnificent As she came onto the stage there was prolonged ap 4 pla se for to many ot oi those present her er talent was already known At the conclusion of her part her teacher was besieged with requests request from leading people that they the be allowed to meet her het M Camille Erlanger the com corn composer composer poser complimented Miss Ramsey by saying that among all the voices he had heard of late none had so im irs impressed Impressed pressed him as hers and he concluded by asking her to bring out one of or nis new songs M lI Erlanger is prom f connected with the Ute Opera Oper and such a compliment nt t from him carries weight and shows the es estimation estimation in which the Utah singer Is held by the profession in Paris Some flattering Inducements to take A up permanent concert work in the French Fren h capital have been made to Miss Ramsey She has accepted engage engagements t 4 ments m for oX o a number of or concerts before she leaves for home but the question as qs a to whether she will return next winter and continue In iii that line tine for which she is so eminently qualified has not yet been decided The in London are ar looking forward with pleasure asure to her visit here bere in March on her way home 4 4 While she was here last summer for a few weeks site she s e endeared herself to everyone by her amiable disposition 4 tion and her unaffected manner as well as by b her willingness and ability to entertain I 4 Miss Nannie Na mie Tout Is still s tl hard at work at the Royal Roal College of Music Iusi Nothing is being allowed al owed to take her away from her studies Since her wonderful success In grand opera last November at His theatre f she has come more into notice among musical people and engagements have been offered her h r by several in hi hiA A f managers These were chiefly looking to concert work and as that is principally confined to London it Is not Improbable that she may m accept some engagements for or one or two c concerts n a week as a it will not hinder 4 7 her college wOrk w rk Nothing definite can be stated about this yet but her Utah friends may rest assured that 4 whatever decision is reached will viiI be after mature m ture consideration by Miss Touts routs parents and by her teacher 4 f Signor Signer who Is very much interested In her future 4 SIgnor has for a month or more more been endeavoring to secure Miss Tout a scholarship in the col coI loge lege in recognition of her superior talent This If it had been granted would have entitled her to free tuition tu tion f for a stated period say from t two o to four years It was nas known to be contrary to the rule of the college to grant arrant a scholarship to a foreigner a rule that has never been Deen broken but Mr w was as hopeful of having the at 4 barrier set aside for his pupil that she might be he placed on equal footing with the English Engli h students But 4 t A f customs 1 are slow to change in England and while no definite decision has been rendered it is practically certain certain g tain tam that the rule will wIlI stand Merit always win here That is practically practical admitted in the th words of r one onee of the college faculty who is reported to have opposed the granting of the scholarship on the very broad 4 ground that if it the rule were not upheld every scholarship the college could afford would soon go to Ameri Amen Americans Americans cans It should be said however in justification college rule that the scholarships were established by wealthy Englishmen for English pupils A very proper suggestion was made by one leading teacher 4 4 when hen he said id Why do not some of your wealthy Americans establish scholarships with us or with Wi h other col 4 4 leges for American pupils We would gladly have It so 4 Miss Touts has attracted the attention of S 5 the famous
