Memorial day Inter Interesting eating esting in the history of Utah The men who fought from 61 to 65 66 and those who fought from Cube Cuba to the Philip Philippines Philippines pines are going to show their honor to the dead of two conflicts The committee of the G 0 A R and of the war veterans which have the celebration in charge met yesterday at the office of Colonel M M Kaighn and perfected their final arrangements They will in reality have two celebrations one to take place today and the other to take place on Wednesday which Is Memorial day dav There will be three meetings including including ing the parade And there will be vis visits visits its to three cemeteries where lie burled buried the heroes of the two wars Soldiers will decorate the graves and hold ser services services vices at Mt Oll t at the city deme cemetery tery and the Fort Douglas cemetery Memorial Services Today The first of the services in honor of the dead will take place at the West Westminster minster Presbyterian church this morn morning mornIng ing There will be an appropriate ser service service vice conducted by Rev George Bailey He will preach the sermon from Judges i The two G 0 A R H posts McKean and Maxwell and all old soldiers for all i of them are invited to participate will meet at Grand Array Army headquarters at 10 this morning and march to toi i the church band leading N D Corser will be the marshal of the day and the Relief corps will be bein beIn in attendance but will of course not march with the parade to the church Wednesdays Observances But the great celebration in honor of the soldiers who have gone before will willbe willbe be on Wednesday There will be a pa parade parade rade which promises to be larger than any that has been held on a similar occasion The marchers will at a m ni form a line at Market and Main streets and in fact all the way down to Fourth South The method by which they will take positions was prepared by the committee yesterday and the volunteers will form on Market street right resting on Main MainI I street Troop C Ninth United States caval cavalry ry cry on east side of Main street resting opposite south side Market street National Guard of Utah on west side of Main street south of Market street All Hallows college bend band and cadets on East Fourth South street right rest ing on Main Civic societies and citizens on Wells and staff mayor and city council board of edu education education cation and superintendent of schools will review procession from front of Kolitz store No 00 60 Main street over overtaking overtaking taking the parade at Eagle gate School children will vill form on each side of Main street beginning at Third South street and extending north It is not expected that the school schoolchildren schoolchildren children will march to the cemeteries and the arrangement they will dis disperse perse at Eagle gate Services at the Cemeteries i The line of march will be up Brigham I street to Eagle gate from Main and Market lo to N street where there will come a separation of the parade A Ai Apart i part of each post of the G 0 A R will go to each cemetery The division which will go to the city cemetery will willbe willbe be under the command of Colonel H HP HP P Burns and Colonel F A Clark will command the column which will go on onto onto to Mt Olivet At each cemetery there will be the regular G A R H ritual services in honor of those who lie buried and will be placed on their graves A detachment from each post will goto go goto to the Fort Douglas cemetery to hold
