Show FALL FROM TRAIN MAY PROVE FATAL James M Campbell Fractures Skull in Railway Accident at Bonneville Depot TO BOARD CAR SLIPPED AND LAY ON TRACK AN HOUR BEFORE BEING FOUND James M Campbell a real estate dealer received injuries which will perhaps prove fatal on the Salt Lake railroad yesterday He is at atthe atthe the Saints hospital and he heis heis is not expected to live The accident took place at Bonneville shortly at af after atter ter noon Campbell had not been feeling well for some days and nd he told his wife In Inthe inthe the morning that he was going to take a street car rIde and get some fresh air He went to Lagoon and was waH re returning returning turning on the train that left there at noon The train stopped at Bonneville the station where the new packIng packInghouse packinghouse house is located Campbell got oft off as he states it to stretch his legs The train started with a jerk and I Campbell jumped for it but just missed the end of the train and fell full force foree on the sharp edges ot of the theties theties ties which were not covered wIth dirt As he got off on the east side of the track and the station is on the west westside westside side none of the crew saw him and the train went on Laid in Sun for an Hour SufferIng from several deep gashes in his side from whIch the blood was spurting Campbell lay on the track frack In Inthe Inthe the hot sun for about an hour unable to move or to call for help when a switch engine that was going to the brick yards stopped near him The en engineer engineer noticed him and seeing his ser serious ious bus condition took him to the city He was stretched out in the office ot of the Hell Helf Ice company North Third West street and Captain John B Bur Burbidge Burbidge bidge his was sum summoned summoned Captain Burbidge had him taken to the hospital and then noti notified fled fied hIs wife When he was picked up he was in ina ina a semiconscious condition At the hospital his wounds were dressed by Dr S C BaldwIn He had a long gash in his right arm which was also broken His collar bone was broken and hIs skull fractured On the rIght upper part of the breast there was a abig abig big spot which indicated some internal injury These were the most serious Injuries Besides these he was badly bruised aU all over I Mr Campbell is well known In the city He has been in the real estate business for some time and is asso associated associated with his brothers in a brokers firm He is married and has three chil children children dren two boys and nd a girl the oldest 9 years old and the youngest 3 The family residence is at US West Vest Second North street Captain Burbidge says that the unfortunate OCcurrence was purely accidental Mr Campbell has been ill for some time and this may retard a possible recovery |
