Show LAFAYETTE SCHOOLS EXHIBIT Teachers and Pupils Display Work for Be Benefit of Parents and Others An exhibit of ot the work of the pupils and teachers of ot the th Lafayette Lafaette school last las night attracted several hundred par parents parent ent and others In addition to the work with which tho the walls alls and and the upper upper corri corridor corridor corn dor wore were covered there was a specially arranged In different classes took part The Tho opening number on the was music furnished by the small pupils of or the first and second grades The little people were applauded to the tho echo by b their appreciative listeners Following this same reading by Miss Annie Adams pu pa pupils pupils pils of the first lade grade in which the chil children children dren dron did some excellent dramatization in their thair story work as well as the ordinary good reading from the books A class in third grade geography conducted by Miss Mabel Dailey Dalley was another fine tine fea lea feature feature ture of the Lator Later an exhibition exhibition exhibition tion drill was given under the direction of Miss Margaret MacVichie and Miss Louise Gallagher The sewing and manual training g work was on exhibition in the office of the principal and some fine fIno samples of work were shown One ne especial exhibit made by the girls of the eighth grade was a U handsome table cloth with twelve napkins every very piece of the set be being beIn beIn ing In marked with UI an n embroidered initial Pillow Pillow slips sUps marked in the same manner hung on the walls Avails and nearly every arti article article article cle of a n girls wardrobe could be found in some place all of ot them beautifully finished and daintily marked In addition to these there were little stockings darned so carefully that one found with difficulty culty the place where the hole had been Equally Equal good was the work of the boys although the articles made were of ot much less practical value to either the boys bo s who made them or the household in which they will find a place Match Matoh safes pic pie picture picture ture tune frames and other small trifles formed the bulk of ot the exhibit but I there were wert a few sleeve boards and larger pieces which will be of ot real value alue The clay and hand handwork handwork handwork work of tho lower grades were all good and the work of the upper grades as shown in the written papers was corn com commendable The exhibit will vail 1111 remain open today and this evening and a gramme pr consisting of eighth grade reading and fourth grade arithmetic will be given iven |
