Show HOUSE SAVED FROM FLAMES Timely Discovery Saves Resi Residence Residence I dence of Mrs Mary Mc McKnight McKnight Knight Fr From m Destruction Smoke was observed issuing from the roof of the residence of Mrs Mary A McKnight Olive street yesterday morning by passengers on the Ninth East car Bishop John 1 M and W H Korn who were on the car jumped off and apprised the family of the situation Bishop Whitaker was boosted to the top the roof and with an ax cut a hole through the metal roofing The fire had started near the chimney and was caused by an over heated stove The flames were eating their way Into the woodwork under the root roof Several buckets of water were carried to the roof and the fire was ex cx without much damage The members of the family had de the smell of smoke but were unable to locate its source The time ly discovery of the blaze prevented a fire which would have damaged the house considerably Bishop Whitaker was struck in the eye with a piece of tin and also cut his right hand but his injuries are not serious |
