Show i I TATE STAlE TRACK i i MEET ARRANGED I I Representatives of Different Colleges Have Meeting to Complete I Det Details ils I j DISCUS T THROWING NG ADDED I BASEBALL LEAGUE DISCUSSED AND ACTION DEFERRED i TIt The representatives of the University of the Agricultural collage the tho BrIg ham 1 oung university of Provo the Brig ham Young college or of Logan and the Lat Saints university mot met yesterday and arranged all the final details relative to ro the tho state track meet to be held this spring The Tho date decided upon was May H 0 The university insisted that May 5 be the data but as several of the colleges entered had that date taken the university university sity with withdrew rew In favor of a later date Again the other schools desire to make the tho state meet the final one or of the season for them and they are unwilling that the meet be held on any date in April It was also arranged that a dual meet be held between the University of Utah and the Brigham Young university on AprIl 3 and one between the university and the SaInts university May 5 both beth of which are to be held on Cum Cummings Cummings field The Question of events cents was vas discussed at length and It was decided to have the thee same e number of events that was held last year ear except that the discus throw will be added The rules rulos that have gov governed the state meets in the past will hold this year In addItion it is pro provIded vIded that each school submit a list of the men who will take part to John Jen Jensen Jensen sen who was chosen as temporary secre secretary secretary tary ot of the league A complete list of the men from all the schools entered will wUl willbe be furnished to the he athletic councIl of each institution so that any protest that may arise can be settled before the date of the meet Will Form Track League Representatives of the several schools will meet meat agaIn May la 13 at the Kenyon Kenon hotel and settle the important matter It was decided also that immediately after tie state meet that a meeting of the I schools will be called and a permanent track league made and officers elected Ph Physical Instructor R 13 D Burtner of the tho thoY ther Y r lI f C A appeared before the representatives and asked that the local Y 11 C A be allowed to enter a team in inthe inthe the state meet It was decided to refer the matter to th vote of the athletic councils of the various already entered The objection urged was that the tho entry of any but a college team would tend to destroy the amat amateur ur standing of the meet Baseball Is Discussed Another matter that was discussed was that of organizing a state baseball league to Include all the colleges of the state Manager I Frank Jones Joncs of the university team urged for the forming of the league He was supported by Coach Joseph Maddock also or of the university The representatives o 0 the Provo and schools stated that they were not In a position to say what their schools would do in the matter at present so 50 t was decided to postpone the matter for forthe or orthe the present After the It was decided to arrange if possible a league t to include the schools Uni University Y M 1 C A L D S university and the Beaver Stake academy I The representatives who met were as I fellows Coach Campbell of the A C col college lege of Logan J T H Kemp of the B Y I college Coach Ross Milne of the L D DS 1 S university Manager T F Carroll of th the B Y university and Coach Joseph Maddock university and Manager J hn Jensen of the I |
