its labors I a born yesterday afternoon after a very busy day devoted largely to routine work The routine was wa waS re relieved relieved relieved by a splendid address by Dr Thomas Marshall at the morning Jn ses sea session session sion and by b a delicious lunch served at the noon hour in the parlors of ot the First Presbyterian church by the women omen of that church The entire proceedings were free from friction and little was said or 01 done doie that would be of interest to people out outside outside outside side of the Presbyterian denomination The attendance was about the same as ason ason ason on the preceding day and Dr Clements presided as moderator with dignity and ability At the morning session a paper was read in relation to the twentieth cen century century tury fund to celebrate the advent of the new century at the general assem assembly assembly assembly bly in Philadelphia in 1901 The strict observance of the weeK of prayer In January was recommended The ap of a committee on the twentieth twentieth twentieth century fund with the Rev C G M lf Shepherd as chairman was made It was urged that contributions to ti this special fund do not cut off regular lar contributions This paper was signed by John Wilson James Thompson son and Philip On the Relief Belief Boll Roll The committee on ministerial relief reported that there were on the roll March 31 1900 names natt ministers widows orphan families one widow of a medical missionary eight female missionaries and sixteen guests In the home at Berth Amboy Am oy N J JOt JOr Of Ot these members there are five an annuitants annuitants on the rolls of the Presbyter Pr ian in the synod one in Kendall pres receiving per annum and four in the Presbytery of ot Utah ing 1150 three obtaining each and one In return for this the churches in this synod have contributed The committee rec roe recommended recommended that greater efforts be put forth to secure contributions to this fund The Rev Thomas Marshall D D delivered a fine address at the morning session on methods of church work with special reference to working the financial benevolences of the church The first regular re lar business of ot the afternoon session was the report of the committee on publication and Sunday school work This report showed sixty one Sunday schools in the territory officers and teachers 3 0 pupils new pupils added during the year 2549 as the average attendance six of officers officers and members in the home department grand total Contributions to Sunday schools to t other boards 1408 1403 to support of school schoolA A resolution was adopted to the ef effect effect feet that since the Rev Hev J H Barton has resigned his bis position as Sunday school missionary of the synod high appreciation be expressed for work done and the board of erian Sunday school work to appoint some efficient man to take his lace alace The strength of ot Mormonism in the tile territory was deplored and after much discussion the following committee was appointed to urge the Importance of the matter oa on the board Drs Paden Boyd and Clements Temperance Reform The Rev R v T P Howard for the com corn committee committee on reported eleven min ministers mInisters mm in the Boise eight In the Ken Kendall Kendall dall dali and twentynine in the Utah dis districts districts districts eleven churches in Boise eleven in Kendall and twentysix in Utah dis districts districts districts During the year ye r two ministers were added to Boise one to Kendall and three to Utah districts One church each was added to Kendall and Utah districts Two ministers were ordained in the Utah district and one license issued No churches were organized Two min ministers minIsters mm were dismissed in Boise one in Kendall and two in Utah districts There were accessions to the church in Boise in Ken Kendall Kendall dall dali and in Utah district an in increase increase increase crease of over the previous year The total membership is now nov 2040 compared with 2023 a gain of seven seventeen seventeen seventeen teen during the year The benevolences of the year were compared with for the previous year a falling off of There are Mc The Next Synod A committee to arrange a for the next neal synod was appointed com corn composed composed posed of the Rev J H U Barton the Rev Charles O 0 Mudge and Dr Resolutions were passed
