Show STUDENTS i IN CLASSIC GARB GARBI I I Upper U Classmen CI of University U Observe Chapel Day in Caps and Gowns The senior chapel day at the university yesterday was the most successful suc suG successful ce sUl of ot this character that has ever been held by the students The seniors appeared for tor the first timo in cap and gown at and went to their classes In this classic garb At 11 all of ot the senior classes were and the members met on the library steps for their official picture Previous to their going to the museum building b where the exercises for the day were held the junior boys dressed dress In white gowns and I white caps marched around the campus carrying a sign which read Not yet pet I but soon At 1130 the seniors fell In line and marched to the museum building They were followed by the tha Junior boys ar arrayed arrayed arrayed rayed in their virgin gowns gown As the seniors entered the hall they were greeted with lusty cheers They were arranged d on the rostrum and to their right sat the members of ot the faculty and the speakers President A A Anderson of the class gave a brief history of the things thing the class had bad done since they had been at atthe atthe atthe the university President Anderson was war followed by Horace Ensign who rendered two baritone solos The Rev Elmer I Goshen then pronounced the invocation O 0 W Powers the speaker of the day spoke of the things which the senior sentor class would bo expected to do after they left the university He told the seniors of the many stormy seas they would have to traverse in their life lite He urged upon the members to be sincere and honest and develop The greatest genius of the world he said is not the one who is naturally born but the one who makes himself by hard earnest and conscientious work Be Behonest Behonest Behonest honest and I am sure you will succeed in whatever walk of life Ufe you follow after you leave the es halls of the university The exercises were completed by the rendering rendering of two violin selections selections by Miss Chloe Sharp When the seniors marched from the hall they were followed by the Junior class They marched to the university campus camp s where L H Hamren posing pORing as the pres president Ident delivered to each Junior a diploma Each member of the class represented some one of the seniors The burlesque was quite original From 2 until 4 clock o the seniors entertained their friends and the friends of the Institution at an informal reception From 4 until 6 8 a dance was given in the mens gymnasium A fitting climax to the day was the ap appearance appearance of ot the class in their caps and owns gowns at the Orpheum in the evening The class had nd the lower boxes The boxes were decorated with the pennants of th the university and the flags of ot the class Dur During DurIng During ing the intermission the class gave vent to their feelings s by lustily giving their college colle e yells After the theatre the class members took dinner at one of the th down downtown downtown downtown town cafes o |
