was placed before the i people by Mayor Morris and It was through his efforts that the ho he bond issue was approved by the people Immediately thereafter steps were taken to secure se ur water rights Interior of the conduit The intercepting sewer contract was as also let in the fall of 1905 1903 as was the contract for the extension of ot the gravity ty sewer from State and Fifth South streets to Fourth East and Ninth South streets The total cost of this work will be about r the cost of the pumping station for which the th present administration alone has to let the contract Conceived Canal enough for all aU time for the business district and will always be bea bea a monument to the genius of Richard RichardP P Morris Credit Belongs to Morris From this review it will clearly be seen that the American administration tion has had absolutely nothing to do with the extension of ot the water or sewer systems of Salt Lake as It claims and that whatever credit it ar arrogates arrogates to itself Itsel for this work is deliberately deliberately stolen from Richard P Morris Most of the work has been done during the tho past two years and nd some of o It Is still uncompleted but it was all aU planned financial provision for it made and with the exception n of one unavoidable Instant e all aU the contracts let during the administration of Rich Richard Richard Richard ard P Morris The engineers estimate of ot the cost of the various undertakings shows that when all the Improvements are made the bond fund will have been be n over overdrawn overdrawn overdrawn drawn This however would not have occurred if the plans of Mayor Morris had been carried out and If the council had not made a gift gUt of tt to P J Moran for plastering the conduit It is safe to say that had Morris been In office during the past two years there would be a balance In Instead Instead instead stead of an overdraft In this bond fund on Jan 1 1908 How this over overdraft overdraft overdraft draft Is to be met is one on of the problems problems problems lems that the administration is trying to solve and even oven If its claim regard ing the condition of the finances fin be true at the end of the
