Show GRADUATION WEEK AT ST MARKS I NURSES HOME IS JUST COMPLETED 1 1 s V Vt t V 4 i I Iv v e eV V 9 4 Vj S V t 4 f s fM 4 I C 7 i S YO t Lt L V t I I i TT i it ii I 1 i tL I NL I I r I 1 4 I Itak r re tak 44 2 I IV Irn e C I t V J rn V b bS 4 S i Photo by Harry f Exercises to Be Held in Cathedral Friday Evening An Im Important Important Important Addition to Splendid Institution Alc This is an Important week in the af affairs affairs affairs fairs pf p St Marks hospital The an annual annual annual nual graduating exercises in connection with the nurses training school will be beheld beheld beheld held Friday evening almost coincident with the completion of ot the nurses home honie The new structure devoted to the Lse LP of the nurses which will be known as the Bishop Leonard Memorial is a most valued addition to the hospital The home stands Just west and south of the hospital proper and is a commodious structure adding greatly to the tho ap appearance appearance as well as to the efficiency of tho the institution The home will eventually be ion eon connected with the main building by a raised and covered passageway the supports to which will separate the ten tennis t tennis n nis court from the basketball court and will probably be made ada into an open arbor arborA A wide veranda extends half way across the front of ot the building awl ami opening from this is tho the main hallway A parlor eighteen by thirty feet Is the largest room on the main floor and opening off oft this to the south are the tiie private apartments of the head held nurses This is a beautiful suite with a south I exposure for both rooms and a private bath Two adjoining rooms on the th west are for the assistant superintend end and the head operating purse nurse and antI the main rooms are single for individual ual nurses Twentysix of these Ules are arc completed thirteen on each of f the tle up upper upper upper per floors with commodious bath bathrooms bathrooms bathrooms rooms and ancl in addition to these are six sets of rooms for probationers each having haYing accommodation for about three probationers Besides these rooms there are seven small kitchens or kitchenettes which may be used in case of illness or 01 for preparing a light meal but no dining room nor ordinary kitchen is included In the home The basement is given up to three t ree large trunk rooms and the gymnasium a large room at the south souti southend southend end which will accommodate a n class of perhaps a score at one time This is not yet fitted with apparatus but it will wIn be a valuable adjunct to the home fo for the winter time especially The furnishing of the home has been undertaken by the Hospital Aid society and the furniture is already purchased anti and will nIll be placed within a few days The home Is finished in mission style an Immense fireplace almost filling one side of the large larse e parlor The furniture will of course correspond to the fin The addition of the home will give ghe some much needed room at the hospi hospital tal and another ward will be opened shortly Extensive alterations are in progress under the tile direction of ot the new superintendent T S Pendergrass The halls are being renovated and several rooms formerly used as nurses quarters quarters will vilI be added to the number in use usen An n isolation ward is being fitted up in the north end of the basement in inthe inthe Inthe the malt main part and the south end is to tobe tobe tobe be turned into a smoking and reading room ro m for convalescent patients in the wards The rh graduating class of the hospital training school for nurses will finish next n Friday evening and the annual graduating exercises will be held in St Marks cathedral that evening Later Lateri Latera i l reception will be given to the young women of the class at the Ladies Ladles Lit Literary Literary Literary club The club this year is a small one ore only three having completed the course Miss Clara Bowman Miss Hilda HUda Youngberg and Miss Luella Francy Franc |
