Show The Convicts. Eli Lee, Idaho Bill and Charles Wells, threo of the esoaped convict, were seen on Tuesday moruiog at the iheep ranch at the foot of the Big mountain. They had with them the stallion belonging to James Gordon and the horses stolen from the lum- j ber compauy'e stables. The animals were jaded and torn about the lege from going through the brush. It appoars that after taking the Baddies and bridles from th Miners' atable, the desperadoes rode some distance south of the city, and then turned north, going up Red Butte canyon, oroaiiug over the mountain at the head. They reached the sheep ranch shortly alter daybreak, day-break, and ale breakfast with the ranchman and his son. They were well armed with guns and pistols, pis-tols, and. said they would not be taken alive, and doubtless meant it. When they lett the rauch they weut off walking and leading their horses, their inteution being to go down Eist canon to the We bar. A son and son in-law ol Mr. G rdoa, in pursuit ol the convicts, passed tho sheep ranch about five hours after the latter had gone. Yesterday three men, believed to be the fugitives, went through Hennoferville, a few miles west ol Echo. A prty of officers soon started in punuit, but had not overtaken the desperadoes at the latest advices from that town. Officers at the towns along the railroad are on the lookout for the men, who it is thought may be captured before the morning. If the fugitives succeed in eluding the officers a few hours longer they will probably escape entirely, as they are getting into a region where it would be moat difficult to track them. It is believed by the officers that Jack Wiggins is in this city. He has many friends in Silt Like, and is shaip enough to know that he can secrete himself here with leu danger of discovery, than he would run in riding about the country. |
