Show A noble and generous act has just been performed in Indiana. In the late unpleasantness the Seventeenth Indiana regiment captured the battle flag of "Terry's Texas Rangers," and at the close of the war the oolors were placed among other trophies in the state library at Indianapolis. Recently Re-cently Gov. Hubbard of Texas, on behalf ol the surviving rangers, asked Gov. Williams to return the flag, The request was referred to Gen, Vail, the republican sheriff of Gibeor county, Ind., who commanded tht 17th Indiana, and he promptly advised ad-vised the adjutant general of tho state to return the colors with the compliments com-pliments of the surviving caplors Sach deeds as this show that tht country is indeed again united as t band of brothers. |
