A bold attempt to break down the stock market was made this morning by sending to various newspaper olncps a bogus tli-patoh, purporting to be signed by Rev. Dr. Deems, making tho positive announcement of the death ot Commodore Com-modore Vanderbiit. It created considerable con-siderable excitement in Wall street lor a time, New York Central declin ing '2 per cent, and Lake Shore 1. Subsequently, however, Messrs. Davis & Freeman, brokers, prominently identified with the finance interest ol Mr. Vanderbilt, received the following follow-ing dispatch from that gentleman : "I am alive and doing well, better than I have been in many months. (Signet!) Vandlkbilt.
