At the instance of our esteemed Iriend, Mr. Carl Nielsen, who had juBt entered into matrimonial relations with Miss Annio Jensen, we, in company com-pany with quite a number of ladies and gentlemen, attended a reception party on Friday evening at tho house of Alderman James Bywoter. The arrangements for the occasion exhibited ex-hibited good tasto and economt;Jand tin1, evening was spent pleasantly, all feeling at home. But ere the hour of our dismissal had arrived, Mr. By-water By-water mnde known to some of us the sorrowful fact that at his other house, a block or two distant, Mr. Thomas W. Richard of Malad, Idaho, a for mer resident of this town, who had been here a very tew days, had suddenly sud-denly died. Deceased had come here for the purpose of erecting a marble stone on the grave of his wife, whose remains rest among the dead at the cemetery here, which he did, and also put a nice picket fence around tho grave, but little thought that ho bad come here to find a final resting place by the side of his companion. He had been Bubject to asthma for several years, and while working around tbe grave contracted a bad cold, which Bettled on his lungs. Presentiments of death came to him toon after hia arrival here. He joined the church in South Wales, and came to Utah in 1S52; was a man of sterling character and worth; aged 56 years. He leaves nine children and numerous friends to mourn his lofs.
