Petition of Iho Hook aud Ladder company asking the council 10 refund to the company $20, the amount expended for shirts and belts, was referred to the committee on claims. The committee on claims reported that they had examiiudthe bill of Surveyor J. W. Fox for $17, aud J'ound it correct. Amount appropriated. appro-priated. I. was about organizing its employes into a hose eonipany, which would be outfitted witli ho.se and truck by the institution. The committee to whom was referred re-ferred the petition of Luke it Tres-cult, Tres-cult, asking lor a license to dispose of pateut fire kiudlers in the city, reported re-ported that they found the kindlera dangerous contrivance, coil oil being used iu it, and recommending; tlmi licerse bo not grauteil to the petitioners. petition-ers. Adopted. The mayor presented his report of expenditures during the months of April and May, Irom the contingent fund placed at his di.-pos il. The report showed that iu April he had expended $214.05; sod in May $470.30. Tne report was approved. Alderman Pyper's police court report re-port for May: Number of cast's tried, 04: cash fines, collected, $202.00; labor fines, $205. Report adopted. Marshal's bill of expenditures for May, $117.15, was allowed and amount appropriated. Bill of Dr. S. B. Young for professional profes-sional services in the city prison during dur-ing May, $S7, was referred to the committee on claims. The following bills for May were presented and allowed: Wm. Hyde tor boarding city prisoners 1.5S1 meals at 15 cents, $220 05; expenses of fire department, $244.75; P. A. Schettler, city treasurer, salary, $200; Andrew Burt, city marshal and captain cap-tain of police, salary, $155; seven policemen's salaries, $S0S: Jos. W. Burt, janitor at city ball, $54; Wm. Hyde, supervisor of streets and water-master, water-master, $150; W. E. Hyde, guarding water tanks and lighting street lamps, $00; Dr. S. B. Young, board aud care of tour patients at insane asylum, $1-43.50; gas company, $1,122.20; Davis, Howe t Co., water works account, ac-count, S33S.50; bath house pasture fence, and grass seed for Union M-iro l.v W H At.L-ins (mrdpiior 0t...., v .o atUnion square, for one year's services, $025, leas $120 perviously appropri ated; assistant to above, $30; for redemption re-demption of city currrency of 1SG5 and 1S66, $14.50; for redemption of auditor's warrants, $233. The committee on finance was instructed to destroy tho redeemed city currency. Bill of Dr. S. B. Young, for boarding, board-ing, medical and burial expenses ol Miunie Plum, an insane woman from Tooele county, was referred to the committee on asylum. The following were appropriated as contingent funds, to be drawn on the orders of the mayor and supervisor of streets, respectively, Sl,500 and $1,000. Council adjourned till next Tuesday Tues-day evening, at 7 o'clock. |
