Show Reviving Bosiness. The merchants all state that busi- j oeii is steadily improving, and money is certainly more plentiful than it j has ben during the summer. There i is no reason why there should not be "brisk times" in Utih this fall. The j exporLatiou of griu and vegetables 1 has already commenced, and promises prom-ises to be extensive, at good prices, j There waa never a more generous I harvest in the territory than the one being gathered, the yield of wheat especially being large. Webaveteen no estimate ot the amouut of this crop, but it is certain that thesurplu3 for export will be immense com pared with former yoars. Two or three carloads of potatoes have already been seat west, and from now until winter the shipments both east aud weit, will be great. Both of these products command fair priced and will be the means of returning re-turning considerable sums of money to the territory. There is a fair prospect pros-pect ol the freight rate on base bullion : being reduced, probably to $10 a ton between Ogden and Ouiaha, in which event there would be a speedy revival of the lead trade, and all of the smelters smelt-ers would be run to their full capacity. The above facts, and others, lead to the belief that business is improving in Utah, and that in a short time people will have little cause to repeat the loud complaints, everywhere heard, of hard times. |
