Show Reverend C. P. Lyford. I'hovo, Utah, Sept. 4, 1S76. Editors Herald: I have just heard that Rev. C. P. Lyford has been engaged to slump the state of New York for the republican repub-lican party. This ii good news indeed, in-deed, aud will insure Utah wheat bread, "chicken fixins" and small change. Butif this reverend (?) divine succeeds no better in converting democrats dem-ocrats than be has succeeded in converting con-verting sinners, those who foot his bills will probably conclude they have been defrauded. I happened to see a letter of his published in that republican sheet of your city, yclept the tribune, of tho 20lh ult., from New York, which ought to be republished. The following follow-ing is an extract therefrom : I neod not attempt to write of the Ctititnnial nor of politics, only to say o f tha laUnr tbat the republicans aro on-IMont on-IMont tbey will carrj Now York for Il-yos and Wheeler, which I bolinvo tlioy will do, unless lirighftra, the firato, Taylor, Smoot, Milnor and such like, conspire to prevent it. There is no otbor iuaurmountible obstacle in the way. Toll Giax to remember me to Brig-ham. Brig-ham. As ever, C. P. Ltfohd. Rome, N. Y., Aug. 11, 1S7G. But if you would publish the whole letter it probably would do much toward to-ward preventing the people of Utah from longer supporting this eminent emi-nent (?) humbug. 1 hear that McKean has joined the MormonB, and that ex-Secretary Black has been trying to get in, and what will become of all such great men when they have to earn a living like ordinary mortals?
