Show Paris Burned. St. LouiB, 31. A Democrat special (rom Paris, Texas, says a fire at noon to day, broke out in the City saloon, and spread rapidly until about ten blocks of business bouses and dwellings dwell-ings were consumed, including three hotels, tho poBloffice and telegraph office. The loss is estimated at from $1,000,000 to $1,500,000. Many lamilies are without shelter. Several lives are reported lost. It ia stated that a man set fire to tho saloon by pouring oil on tne floor and igniting it, with the remark that he would burn the damned town. There was but one fire engine in the town and the water gave out and left the city to the mercy ol the flames. The amount of insurance is not stated. |
